Over the past 14 years, Shannon Dance Academy has firmly established itself as a centre of excellence for ballet and modern dance in the Midlands. Under the guidance of esteemed teacher, Judith Sibley, students at the Academy learn, grace, musicality, good posture, self-expression and the self-confidence that naturally develops when achieving goals.
Judith Sibley is one of Ireland’s most highly respected ballet dancers, teachers, choreographers and company directors. As well as her excellent career on the international stage, having retrained to teach, Judith has been invited to teach as far afield as Italy and Singapore. She is the Artistic Director of Chrysalis Dance and Youth Ballet West, and both companies have been in receipt of funding from The Arts Council of Ireland.
We understand that you want the best for your child and at Shannon Dance Academy we strive to provide the highest quality of care and to teach dance in a fun and healthy learning environment. Our aim is to provide a positive learning experience for each individual child and to inspire a love of the arts in everyone we work with.
All the staff at Shannon Dance Academy have themselves excelled in dance before training to the highest standards to teach. All our teachers have Certificates of Public Liability Insurance and Certificates of Garda Clearance to work with young people. As well as their esteemed qualifications in dance, they are also Certified in First Aid and Child Protection Policy.
Shannon Dance Academy students are regularly given the opportunity to perform on stage. This unique experience of rehearsing and performing their work, builds self-confidence and self-discipline in the young dance student. The ability to work hard and practise and the fantastic feeling of achievement as the end result is a wonderful learning experience for any young person.
SDA regularly perform to enraptured sell-out audiences at The Dean Crowe Theatre. Our young dancers have also performed with ‘European Ballet’, an excellent professional touring company, have taken part in The Irish National Dance Awards, have presented their work in street festivals in Athlone , attended workshops with Chrysalis Dance Company , attended Vocational Training Summer Intensive courses with major examiners of the RAD and are given the opportunity to audition for Youth Ballet West.
